Jeff Denoncour got his first tattoo in 1969, from Greg May at Lake Geneva Tattoo in Wisconsin. In 1974 Jeff met Sailor West at the Hopkinton Fair and got tattooed. This led to an apprenticeship with Sailor West in Nashua NH at East Coast Tattoo. Jeff worked between both shops that Sailor West owned in Nashua, NH and Cranston, RI for a year. After 1975 he completed his apprenticeship and opened his own tattoo shop in Weirs Beach, NH. Tattooing during The Laconia Bike Week in 1976. In 1977 he opened up a shop called L.A. East in Lakeport, NH.
During this period Jeff would continue tattooing at carnivals. Jeff first met Greg Irons in 1982 at the Reno Tattoo Convention, which subsequently resulted in Jeff getting tattooed by Greg later in life. This convention made a big impact on Jeff and opened his eyes to the bigger world of tattooing. Feeling the pull out of New Hampshire he did guest spots and travelled doing conventions. During this period he met and tattooed with Bill Loika, Dana Brunson, Rusty Savage, SuzAnne Fauser, Sailor Moses, and the list goes on.
In 1991 while working with Sailor Moses in Biloxi, MS Jeff suffered a heart attack. It was then he knew he had to make a lifestyle change and settle down. This led him back home in NH where he opened a shop in Belmont, NH called “S n’ J Tattoo” which only lasted a little while. He eventually went back to Lakeport, NH to work at his old shop; L.A. East, bouncing around NH, and back and forth between Sailor Moses’s shop until Sailor Moses’s death in 1997. Jeff worked in the Seacoast on NH at Jim’s Tattoo from 97’ to 05’ and then went to Spider Bite Tattoo in Manchester, NH until 2010. Since then Jeff has been tattooing in many tattoo shops all around NH and maintains close relationships with Spider Webb, Brian Everett, Jack Rudy, Mark Mahoney, among other legendary tattooers.
